Aliya Harris leaves her family and moves to Brazoria, Texas, for an elementary teaching position . She is befriended by one of her students, six-year-old Marissa Patterson. Sensing her teacher might be lonely; Marissa decides to fix up Aliya with her shy and widowed father, Kolby.
